FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
In the case of Heang v Tran [2016] NSWDC 188, the District Court of New South Wales awarded an injured shopper $660,545 in damages after a slip and fall. The injured shopper sued the shop where the fall took place for negligence, and was awarded a large amount of compensation for loss of future wages as a result of her injuries.
The Court has issued a decision that benefits injured workers in South Australia. The decision makes it easier for workers to claim higher amounts of lump sum compensation under the Return to Work Act 2014 (SA), who have sustained multiple impairments during the course of their employment.
